2. LOSE WEIGHT

A research titled "Kickboxing review: anthropometric, psychophysiological and activity profiles and injury epidemiology" states that Kickboxing provides an aerobic workout that burns calories and helps one to lose weight quite rapidly. It also states that many kickboxers have more muscle mass and their body fat are of a low percentage.

It is even proven that someone who weighs 70kg can burn up to 372 calories just doing kickboxing for half an hour!

3. INCREASED BALANCE, MOBILITY, AND FLEXIBILITY

According to a 2012 study, people with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) were trained for a 5-week Group Kickboxing program to test mobility, balance, and quality of life. After the 5-week program ended, the results showed that although there were no affect on quality of life, there were significant changes to how the individuals were moving and were gaining a better sense of balance.

From this result, it was concluded that Kickboxing conducted in a group was an attainable physical exercise for persons with MS as it leads to improvement of balance and mobility.

Although there were only 11 participants in the study, the results suggest that Kickboxing may be a factor to help improve reactive and anticipatory balance. This could mean that as you age, the risk of falls decreases.

4. BETTER MOTOR SKILLS

Kickboxing as a workout is very different from other types of exercises. It focuses a whole lot on powerful movements. How is power different from strength? It is a better predictor of mobility. So, older adults can gauge their risk for falls. So a few training sessions would definitely improve your coordination of your limbs. You would move faster and with more intent.

Kickboxing can increase your stamina, strength, and overall fitness. But it can also help with your sleep hygiene, your journey of weight loss, your flexibility and lastly, your coordination. So, what are you waiting for? Get your gloves on and start your training sessions!
